And the Snowboarding Winners Are…

By Leslie Brown

At the second round of the Natural Balance® Casting Call for snowboarding Bulldogs on November 10th, five dogs were called back to perform and establish their place on the World’s Biggest New Year’s Day float. There were two happy winners, and three dogs will be alternates.

Congratulations to Niko and Tank! We’re sure you’ll have a great time with Tillman, Rose, and Lyle snowboarding down the 50-foot ramp in the 121st Rose Parade® in Pasadena, California.

The winners were determined by their ability to get along with the famous skateboarding dog Tillman and his skateboarding pals Rose and Lyle, as well as their competitive strength on ramp.

The three alternate dogs, Rambo, Buster, and Julio were also happy campers, as they were also determined to be fast and strong enough to be back-up dogs for the float. A huge opportunity for both the Bulldogs and their owners, it was incredible to see the group’s excitement.

The two winning dogs, along with Tillman, Rose, and Lyle all sat in their own director chairs with their names blazed on it. (Rose, being the only female, had a pink chair.) Assigned numbers one at a time, Joey Herrick, CEO of Natural Balance, watched to see how each dog performed. All five dogs did a phenomenal job.

Bulldog tricks and tales were shared among the dogs and their owners. One of the winners, Tank, demonstrated an amazing ability to sleep (and snore!) on command. And with enthusiasm, strength, and snowboarding flair, the Bulldog Niko showed the qualities of a younger Tillman.

All dogs left the winners circle with an original Natural Balance skateboard and the opportunity for some expert training by Natural Balance. A week before the parade, the dogs will even be accommodated in a Pasadena hotel and treated like kings (or queens, like Rose).

At the end of the call-back, there were many high-fives from the Bulldog’s owners, and an amazing time was had by all.
